About Us
At KidLit Craft we strive to provide in-depth craft explorations of excellent mentor texts to help you read like a writer and improve your craft.
Help you grow in your craft!
KidLit Craft
Many writers are told, "Read 100 books in your genre." At KidLit Craft, we encourage you not just to read books but to study them. To figure out what craft choices writers have made, what the effects of those choices are, and how you might use them in your own writing, whether you write middle grade, young adult, or picture books.
We started as a blog in 2015, and now we have over 400 craft articles on topics like character arcs, worldbuilding, voice, and setting. We have dozens of interviews with children's authors (many with companion craft articles).
In 2023, we started the KidLit Craft Podcast so we could spend more time on one mentor text and reach writers through a different medium. The same year, we also started offering classes, so writers can have a personalized guided experience as they grow in their craft.
We're pleased to offer our Ask the Author Craft Book Clubs, to provide an opportunity for writers to learn from expert authors and have a common reading experience.
We hope you'll find many ways to grow as a writer at KidLit Craft. And we love to hear about what you're learning. Reach out to us with our contact form.
And don't forget to subscribe to our newsletter for monthly craft tips, book recommendations, writer wisdom, as well as KLC announcements and discounts.
